Kathleen Rea believes our bodies have an inherent wisdom that can lead us towards insight and healing. she incorporates Expressive Arts Therapy with 30 years of experience in professional dance to create a body and movement based style of therapy. Rea works with youth and adults helping them to break through patterns of anxiety, stress, crisis and depression. Her work also includes assistance with life-transitions, loss, the effects of trauma and a desire to become more embodied. When we are suffering, often we have trouble imagining a way through. She hopes to offer my clients creative ways to imagine a path through their challenges using body-based knowledge as a guide. Rea works with individuals from all walks of life, including business people and artists. Her practice is LGBT friendly and accessible to people with disabilities. The setting is a home dance studio with a sprung floor in a quiet setting.

Peter J. Smyth, PhD, MSW, MScEd, RP, (Cert) OACCPP

Peter J. Smyth has over thirty-five years of experience in the fields of social work, counselling and psychotherapy, adult education, and organizational consultation. He holds numerous qualifications in the various areas of psychometrics, group work, leadership, coaching, behavioural and group assessment, interpersonal communication, and problem solving. He is accredited in the administration and facilitation of the globally recognized Lumina Learning psychometric systems.

 

Peter is the director of the Counselling Institute in Woodbridge, Ontario, where he practices relational psychotherapy as well as executive coaching. He has been a professor at York University for the past thirty years and has taught at three other universities. As a corporate consultant and coach, he has worked with a wide variety of organizations in both the private and public sectors, and he also provides consultancy services to a number of health-care and educational institutions. He is committed to personal and cultural transformation through the development of consciously collaborative environments that are motivational and responsive to both human and organizational needs for growth.

In addition to his extensive private sector experience, Peter has had a long professional relationship with the public sector, including the Ontario Government. Over the past twelve years he has worked with the Ontario Public Service and various Ministries and Departments. He spent seven years on the faculty of the Centre for Leadership and Learning, Cabinet Office, working with the Senior Leadership Development Program. Since 2002 he has been on the faculty of the Centre for Excellence in Critical Care Medicine (Mount Sinai/ University of Toronto) and has also served as an active member of the Teamwork and Leadership Critical Care Coaching Team (MOHLTC Critical Care Secretariat). In addition, he has served on the faculty of the Clinical Ethics Summer Institute (CESI).

Peter has written numerous articles in the areas of leadership, psychology, and group work. His latest, co-authored book, Reflective Leaders and High-Performance Organizations (2012) shows the reciprocal nature and critical importance of obtaining a balance between tasks and relationships.  He brings both wit and wisdom to his work.
