Leslie Born, MSc, Ph.D., (c)OACCPP Counselling can change the "should", "must", "have to" and "supposed to" that can cause us to feel stuck in our lives and unhappy. Leslie Born has certifications in Interpersonal Psychotherapy and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, or as she notes, an ability to tackle and change "the musts" and "the shoulds" in our relationships and in our thoughts using a fast, effective counselling approach with lasting results. Leslie has a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling (Niagara University) and a PhD in Medical Science (University of Toronto). Her research on irritability has been presented to international scientific audiences, and has been profiled on CANADA AM, CBC’s The Andy Barrie Show, The National Post, The Toronto Star, The Hamilton Spectator, and Chatelaine. Her therapeutic areas of expertise include emotional problems related to menstrual cycles, childbearing, and menopause. Leslie gained a reputation as an effective therapist for women who experienced pregnancy loss or a complicated delivery. Her counselling practice today also includes both women and men experiencing chronic illness, life role changes, grief, traumatic stress, marital or family conflict, and recovery from burnout. Leslie is Assistant Professor (part time) at McMaster University where she participates as an Interpersonal Psychotherapy supervisor for Psychiatry residents, and is Adjunct Faculty at Brock University and Senior Lecturer at Niagara University, where she lectures.
