KALI HEWITT-BLACKIE, MA (c) OACCPP Gestalt Psychotherapist

I have 20 years of clinical experience as a psychotherapist. Initially, I specialized in sexual abuse, women's issues and eating disorders, and worked with those issues from a somatic and feminist perspective. I did doctoral course work in feminist psychology and community organizing in the early 90s.

More recently I have completed five years of Gestalt training that has continued to feed my creativity as a therapist. I believe strongly in the individual's ability to empower themselves in the face of obstacles and to learn how to manifest rich lives. In 2007 I was a founding member of the Gestalt Institute of Toronto Alumni Association. I have practiced aikido, an integrated Japanese martial art, for over 19 years.

I feel I can only be present for others to the extent that I have a commitment to my own learning and development. I have expertise in work with individuals, couples, and families -- focusing on relational issues to help my clients discover balance-in-relationship.

My methods are at once challenging, direct, and supportive.

My fees are often covered by extended health benefits.
