Catherine Howson, M.A., (C)OACCPPCounselling ~ Psychotherapy ~ Anger Management ~ AddictionsCatherine is a Clinical Therapist with The Centre for Health. She completed her Master of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology at the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Toronto. She has completed additional training in Trauma Assessment and Treatment, Addiction Studies, and Narrative Therapy. AREAS OF PRACTICECatherine has experience assisting clients in standing up to symptoms associated with stress, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, childhood sexual abuse, disordered eating, low self-esteem, substance abuse, compulsive internet use, compulsive online sexual behaviour, abusive relationships, bereavement, parent-child attachment issues and general parenting issues. She also has experience working with both voluntary and court-mandated individuals who seek anger management counselling. CLIENTELEShe enjoys working collaboratively with adults, teenagers, children, families, and couples. She also welcomes GLBT clients. TEACHING EXPERIENCE & WORKSHOPSAs a part-time Instructor and curriculum developer with McMaster University, in the Addiction Studies Program, she is involved with several courses, including: Youth & Addictions, Solution Focused Approaches in Addictions, Concurrent Disorders, The Whole Person, and Counselling Techniques in Addictions. She also enjoys developing and facilitating workshops in various community settings.
