Naseema SiddiquiNaseema Siddiqui
President, Chair of the Executive, CHAIR OF PUBLIC POLICY

Naseema has over 25 years of experience providing a wide range of psychological services to children and adults who are developmentally delayed and behaviourally challenged. She offers extensive assessment, counselling and treatment services. Provided consultation services to clients, parents, teachers, physicians, Public Health Nurses etc. Consulted with general practitioners and other medical specialists regarding psychological conditions including dual diagnosis and pharmacological concerns and questions. Conducted workshops on Change Management. Presented at the Canadian Cancer Society (Ontario Division) Annual meetings workshops on Stress Management and Stress and Dealing with Change. She is the immediate past Chair of the Ontario Coalition of Mental Health Professionals. Naseema is a Certified Member of the OACCPP.

Robert Rea
First Vice-President, Chair of Governance & Risk Management

Bob has had many long years as a Clinical Psychologist providing psychological assessments and behavioural therapy to developmentally delayed and autistic spectrum disorder clients and their families. He has over the years also supervised a multitude of psychometrists and behavioural support workers which he continues to do as a private Psychological Consultant.

 

JAMES WHETSTONE, M.A., (C) OACCPP

Second Vice-President & Chair of Public Policy

James Whetstone holds a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology and received his baccalaureate in Psychology with studies in learning theory.  He is a practicing Psychotherapist and has a distinguished career in the driver behaviour and safety education fields.  Mr. Whetstone is qualified as a Certified Psychotherapist by the Ontario Association of Counsellors, Consultants, Psychotherapists and Psychometrics, (OACCPP). The Ministry of Education (MOE) granted him Ontario Certification for Teaching in Driver Education.  

 

 

John MaraiJohn Marai
Chair of Certification

John Marai has a long history in the field of counselling and assessment mostly in the Employee Assistance field. He holds Masters degrees in both theology and psychology. He received additional training in Gestalt and Family Therapy. John has been a long standing member of OACCPP and has served on the Board in many capacities, such as President, Secretary and Treasurer. His recent portfolio is chairing the Certification and Finance Committees. John is a Certified Member of the OACCPP.

Jorhdin Banner
Co-Chair of Certification

Jorhdin earned a B.Sc. (Honours) in Psychology at the University of Calgary in 1986, an M.A. at York University in 1988 and a Ph.D. in Community Health at the University of Toronto in 1992.
Her counselling internship was conducted in 1989–90 at the Atkinson Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre, York University. She served as a consultant at the Centre in 1990–91.
Jorhdin has trained at the Bradshaw Center in Los Angeles and been in private practice since 1989. She has attended the C.G. Jung Institute Analyst Training Program of Pittsburgh and has completed the Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory and Eye Movement Desensitization and Re-Processing (EMDR) training.
Jorhdin is an eclectic coach and focused implementer of personal development practices. She assists individuals and corporations with work and personal anxiety/stress management, workload and relationship issues as well as facilitates ongoing personal development integration and growth.

Penny Kawasaki

Penny Kawasaki
Board Secretary, Chair of Nomination

Penny Kawasaki has a private practice called Learning Support Services. Her company provides specialized psychological assessment services across the age span (children, adolescents and adults) in the area of Learning Disabilities and Attentional Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. She consults with parent groups, school boards, colleges and universities, and does individual counselling related to disability issues. She has over 25 years of clinical practice in the Eastern Ontario region, as well as the Toronto area. She recently retired from Algonquin College, in Ottawa, where she was employed as a counsellor for the past nine years. Penny is a Certified Member of the OACCPP.

 

Stephen Douglas
Stephen DouglasTreasurer

Stephen Douglas, MA (C)OACCPP, has a private practice with offices both in Etobicoke and Burlington offering individual, marital and family therapy. Stephen has developed a specialization addressing anger and helping men identify and release their blocks to intimacy and vulnerability. Stephen completed his Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology at University of British Columbia, where he developed a narrative projective assessment for family violence. Stephen has integrated training in Gestalt Therapy, Satir Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Desensitization for Anxiety and Post-Traumatic Stress, and additional perspectives on mental health found within indigenous teachings. Stephen is a Certified Member of OACCPP, a member of the Board since 2006 and is currently serving as Treasurer. In 2010, Stephen received the President's Award for Distinguished Volunteer Service.

Simon Atkins
Chair of Professional Conduct

Simon AtkinsSimon Atkins runs a counselling and family mediation practice in Orangeville, Ontario. He has a Masters of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from the Alfred Adler Institute of Chicago.  Simon has varied work experiences involving psychotherapy counselling, executive coaching, and marketing communications consulting.   He also works part time at the Catholic Family Services of Simcoe counselling agency providing cognitive behavioural and psychodynamic counselling services to individuals, couples, and families.

Simon is a certified professional coach with over 20 years of experience providing communications and coaching services to senior executives of leading corporations in Canada.  Simon is a Team Coach with the Queen’s-Cornell Universities Executive MBA program. He is also a member of the International Coaching Federation, and is a trained family mediator and a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario.

 

Margaret Cook
Chair of Professional Development

Margaret CookMargaret has been working in the field of mental health for over 10 years. She trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Ottawa Psychoanalytic Society and then took an M.Ed in counseling at the University of Ottawa. Her employers have included a community health centre, the AIDS Committee of Ottawa and, since 2003, the Counselling and Coaching Service of the University of Ottawa. She works in both English and French. Margaret also holds a PhD in French literature and has six published volumes of poetry.

 

Henry Gulabh

Chair of Public Relations

Henry GulabhHenry Gulabh is an experienced and well-regarded therapist with a Master’s Degree from McMaster University. He has been trained in the field of Addictions through his 11 years as an Addictions Counsellor at the McMaster Addictions Alcohol Treatment Centre (now defunct).

He is certified in the Addictions field and has acquired extensive training in providing therapy services through the Psychoanalytic, Cognitive, and Solution-focused approaches.

He uses an integrated and holistic approach to helping clients in learning new strategies in the process of effecting healthy and meaningful change. He advocates healthy eating, a balanced diet and nutritional and exercise regimes.

His forte and strength, beyond addictions, is also on issues such as Stress and Anxiety Management, Mindfulness, ADHD, Coping with Depression, Conflict-Resolution, Assertiveness Communication and Training, Self-Esteem, Anti-Violence and Anger-Management, and Grief and Loss.

He has conducted the mandated Men’s Anti-Violence PAR program both at the Provincial and Federal levels.

He has taught Assertiveness Training at Mohawk College for over 5 years and currently is on the Faculty of Continuing Education at McMaster University teaching a certification course in the Addictions Field.

He currently is contracted to conduct addictions assessments and relapse prevention counselling and provides client services on behalf of a number of EAP providers in both Hamilton and Oakville. He has been contracted to provide mediation consultation to a number of Corporate clients that have included  Dofasco (now Accelor Mital Steel), Stelco (now US Steel Canada), City and Region of Hamilton, Ontario Hydro (now Ontario Power Generation), Cami Automotive, Royal Sun Life, Campbell Soup Company, Johnson and Johnson and Local Area Physicians.

With his memberships in several professional bodies that are governed by a strict Code of Ethics and Conduct, Henry understands and abides by the commitment to maintain professional and quality standards in his practice.

Lorna Graham

Lorna Graham

Lorna has an M.A. in Counselling Psychology and is a psychotherapist and assessment consultant in London. As an EAP Clinician at Family Service Thames Valley, she specializes in narrative therapy, emotionally focused couple therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). In her private practice Lorna conducts psychovocational assessments with clients referred by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and Ontario Works. She is a Certified Member of OACCPP.

Allan Hirsh

Allan Hirsh

Allan Hirsh is a long-term member of OACCPP. Allan is a graduate of McGill and the University of Saskatchewan. He began his North Bay private practice in 1978. At the time, few other M.A. level practitioners were opening full time private practices in Ontario. OACCPP membership helped to provide support, encouragement and reduce the isolation of working in the North. He has extensive experience in: helping adult survivors of childhood abuse or indifference; anxiety and panic attacks; relationship counselling; separation and grief; recovery and wellness. Allan is also a published cartoonist and offers workshops on humour and stress management. Allan is a Certified Member of the OACCPP.

 

Jasper MillerJasper Miller
Board Chair

Jasper is university educated and trained in the behavioral arts and sciences to the post graduate level. He is currently a freelance consultant working with individuals and small enterprises on resilient optimum flow arrangements for healthy functioning. His professional experience consists of applied culture-sensitive measures, strategies and techniques across the physical, social and mental dimensions of health - in a range of settings (institutional, community, corporate) as counsellor, therapist, analyst and consultant. It encompasses twenty-three years of work with children, adolescents, families and community service organizations that facilitate recovery from traumatic behavioral dysfunction in a diverse society through an evolving practice.

Antoine Quenneville

Antoine Quenneville, MA

Antoine is a fully bilingual counsellor/psychotherapist who has worked in the Ottawa area for over 20 years. He has worked in a wide variety of settings, providing management consultations, individual, couple and group counselling as well as conducting training seminars and presentations on a variety of topics. He assists clients with a broad range of issues with particular emphasis on anger management, dealing with stress and depression as well as issues of sexuality or childhood abuse. In his work as an Employee Assistance counsellor within both the private sector and for the Federal Government, Antoine has provided individual, couple and family counselling to clients from a wide variety of work settings. He has conducted training and debriefing seminars on workplace deaths, achieving balance, diversity issues and Treasury Board policies and procedures as they relate to harassment and wellness in the workplace.

Antoine approaches all clients with respect and professionalism, providing a safe space to explore issues and experiment with new ways of being or seeing situations. He utilizes experiential and client centered techniques to assist people with finding solutions or emotional potentials within themselves. He has worked extensively with relationship issues, including with same-sex couples and couples where one or both partners have experienced physical and/or sexual abuse in childhood. He provides a structured Individual Anger Management program as well as general individual counselling for men experiencing depression, relationship break up or other major life transitions.

 
 

Michael SolbyMichael Solby, M.Ed., (c) OACCPP, CPT, CATSM

More than 25 years as a psychotherapist contributes to Michael's expertise in helping people solve emotional problems, overcome barriers and restoring balance in their day-to-day lives. Located in Etobicoke, Michael works with adults, adolescents and children in both group and individual settings. His proficiency in wide range of treatment approaches results in notable positive outcomes for even the most challenging situations. Michael uses his unique skill set to help his clients deal with their very personal issues in a practical, realistic way. He hold post-graduate degrees from the University of Toronto and the Royal Academy in London, England.

Areas of Practice:

Michael has experience assisting clients around issues associated with PTSD, general trauma, suicidality, mood disorders, stress, family blending, abuse inside the home, marital conflict, conflict between siblings, parents or peer groups, obsessive compulsive disorder, anger management, depression and anxiety.

Michael helps people make realistic changes toward meaningful development. He listens to clients' viewpoints then helps them make a plan to change the things they want to change. By working together, each client finds solutions and discovers new opportunities for a richer, more rewarding life.
